YOGA NIDRA/DEEP RELAXATION

Candlelight to create a warm and cosy space

'Yoga' meaning 'union/a one pointed awareness' and 'Nidra' meaning 'sleep'.

Dating back thousands of years, Yoga Nidra or 'Psychic sleep' was rediscovered by Swami Saraswati Satyananda. Founder of the Bihar School of Yoga. He brought the practice into a modern way, of increasing awareness into the body and mind.

This practice has had a profound and positive effect on my life and well-being, mindset, calmness and patience. It was this practice that helped eradicate extremely debilitating bouts of pain and inflammation in my large intestines, which flared up from stress and after having major surgery 2 years earlier. And I can happily say it has helped immensely in healing my gut/IBS issues.

I love sharing it with the world!

What is Yoga Nidra?

Many people ask 'what is yoga nidra', 'is it hard, as I am a beginner?'

Simply put, there is absolutely NO hard work or movement involved in this practice. You literally get to lay on the floor and listen to me talk to you!

Yoga Nidra is a very powerful practice that incorporates both meditation & relaxation. Whilst relaxed on the floor a script is read to you. With no effort the script takes you through many techniques that help to train the brain to relax and open the mind and your awareness by speaking to your subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind is where we store all our beliefs, conditioning, good/bad habits, big/small traumas we may have experienced through our life. Our memories are all stored there. When we are in the relaxed state of Yoga Nidra we increase the alpha and theta brain waves, which are responsible for co-ordination, alertness, clarity, focus, calmness and for decreasing anxiety. We become extremely receptive to change, that we can enhance our neuropathways and rewire our brains from any limiting believes, habits or behaviours. We can completely transform ourselves and our outlook on life. Thus releasing mental, emotional and physical tensions stored in our mind and body.

Yoga Nidra is a holistic healing practice. It offers truly deep, nourishing rest. So whether you use the practice to find relaxation or to cultivate peace and harmony within yourself, or to take you deeper in your healing journey. It can be enjoyed by all, even expectant mothers.

I have been doing Yoga Nidra with Heidi for a few months now and it has been an amazingly helpful practice. I have been suffering from stress due to exams and so the Yoga Nidra sessions have taught me to regulate my stress and have all round been really useful. Heidi even sends the recordings of our sessions so that I can practice Yoga Nidra at home too, and before an event that I know is going to cause me anxiety.

Thank you so much Heidi, this has helped me so much and I will be able to use Yoga Nidra to help me throughout my life.
